Summary edit

Description This 19th Century North Eastern Railway Distant Signal, one of the last to remain in use on a passenger line, was taken out of service in 1984. Signals of this type on former North Eastern Railway routes were painted red until after 1928, so it has been restored to its original condition, and placed here as a memento of York's Railway Heritage, with assistance from the North Eastern Railway Association.
