Description 1942 Ohio trailer license plate 39-YJ-1, with 1943 sticker. I just got this 1942/43 trailer plate. Not only do I like the abbreviation of "TRAILER" but I really like the 1943 sticker which I believe may be the first license plate decal or sticker ever applied to a North American license plate. Does anybody out there know of an earlier dated adhesive sticker used on a license plate before 1943? N. American plates during WW II used metal tabs or windshield stickers to revalidate the plates.
