Description A U.S. Marine Corps Rockwell OV-10A Bronco from Marine Observation Squadron 1 (VMO-1) takes off from the flight deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66) as the ship passed Rota, Spain, while en route to the Persian Gulf region for "Operation Desert Shield". The six VMO-1 aircraft that were carried across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the America stopped in Rota before continuing on to Saudi Arabia.
