English: Oast House at New Barn Farm, Tenterden Road, Rolvenden, Kent. One of three unconverted Oast Houses on this footpath.
This oast house has two different kiln types. To the left a cowl ventilated oast kiln; the cowl allowing the air to manually draw through the hops via convection. To the right a ridge ventilated kiln; fan driven, pushing the air through the drying floor and out of the top through controlled louvre vents. A similar ridge ventilated kiln can be found the other side of Tenterden 1533645 Keywords: converted, hop drying, roundel, lourves, louvres, beer |
