Notes
  • Significance: This unusual house of another day was conceived by an eccentric named Edward Elderkin, a young lawyer from the eastern states, who had emigrated to this little city in the wilderness in 1839. Many a community in the state of Wisconsin has one of these freak houses and Elkhorn is no exception. It was once the proud mansion of a large estate, but today it has only a door-yard garden surrounding it with a couple of age old spruce trees thrown in for good measure. Very little more can be said about this unusual domicile.
