English: Okehampton Station footbridge 1995 What with the old LSWR line through Okehampton being in the news recently as a possible alternative rail route to Devon and Cornwall, I thought it was about time to upload a few more of my photos of Okehampton station as it was back in the mid 1990s. This was after the quarry trains had stopped running, but before the passenger service had been semi-revived: the whole station (including the goods shed and down platform shelter, pictured here) had just been left to quietly decay. I found the remains of a Southern Railway timetable on the wall of the down platform shelter: I did get a photo of it but without flash it came out very blurred! I can't remember exactly when this was taken, but it would have been on the same visit as my other photos of this location. Best guess is May 1995. |
