| Description |
English: Okehampton railway station I can't remember exactly when this was taken, but the station was apparently restored in 1997 (and the goods shed, seen here on the right, turned into a Youth Hostel) so an educated guess places this around 1995, probably in early summer. From the look of the tracks the ballast trains to and from Meldon quarry behind the camera) hadn't been running regularly for a while and I know they were fairly frequent in 1993. During this visit I found the remains of a Southern Railway timetable on the wall of the waiting room on the Down platform; this must have dated from at least 1948! |
