This is a neatedifice, comprising a valuable surgical collection,the principal feature of which is a vast variety ofwax models, illustrative of the wonders of the humanframe, and of remarkable cases of disease. Guys Hospital, we need scarcely add, has longheld a prominent position among the philanthropicinstitutions in this country, both in respect to thegreat scope of the charity it dispenses as a hospital, a large number of minor accidents and urgentsurgery cases, and upwards of 2,000 lying-in women,who are attended to at their own homes. It should also be stated that a fund has beenestablished for relieving the families of deservingand very poor patients in Guys Hospital, by giftsof coal and other provisions, and in some instancesby money. Between St. Thomass Street East and TooleyStreet, and covering some considerable part of theground formerly occupied by St. Thomass Hospital,is the cluster of stations, irregularly combined, andwithout any unity of plan or architectural beauty,forming the terminus of the following railways :—The Crystal Palace; the London, Brighton, andSouth Coast; the South-Eastern ; the North Kent;the South London, &c. From London Bridge theapproach is by an inclined road, which passesunder an iron bridge, over which is carried theCannon Street and Charing Cross extension of theSouth-Eastern Railway, which originally had itsterminus here.
