English title: On the street where you live. हिंदी टाइटल : तेरे घर के सामने Neighbours and neighbourhoods often shape our identities. This film by Snehal Phadakale tells us about an enigmatic neighbour whose mansion is next to a slum. He is rarely seen but very influential in the lives of the people in the locality. Vacha is a resource organisation of Mumbai, which runs several centres for girls and women in the bastis (slums) of Santa Cruz and adjacent areas. In their 'Bole Kishori' (Girls speak out) project, they create opportunities for girls to express themselves through writing, drawing, photography, theatre and slideshow presentations, encouraging them to read and discuss issues critically. This film came out of a training in video-making for the young women who facilitate this activity in local communities. The facilitators will now train the girls to tell their own stories through the medium of video. The training was designed and conducted by Comet Media Foundation (www.cometmedia.org).
