Willmott and I visited theplace on July 25. The deposit is apparentlya vein. An open cut has been made upon it100 feet long and averaging 12 feet in depth. The contents of the ore body are pyrite andpyrrhotite, which occur in distinct massesclose together. There is 50 or 60 feet ofjjyrite with an average width of 2^ feet, andalongside of this the pyrrhotite, which is ofgreater extent, but valueless. So far practi-cally nothing is known as to what the extentof the deposit will prove to be, but it will bemined as long as it continues to pay. Theopen cut is on an elevated jjortion of ground, and a tunnel has been commenced near thefoot of the hill with the intention of attackingthe body lower down to make the work ofmining more economical. Both the pyriteand pyrrhotite are taken out, but the formeronly is saved. There was about one hundredtons of it on the dump on the day of our visit, and five weeks later the manager informedme that this had been increased to aboutfour or five hundred. 78

The country rock istrap, and what appears to be a boss of graniteoccurs near the ore body. The test pits weresunk through drift material which covers thegreater part of the rock.
