| Description |
English: The Ontario Street United Methodist Church, 189 Ontario Street at Tonawanda Street, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Founded in 1891 by the Reverend Ray Allen of the former Ripley Memorial Methodist Church as a Sunday school intended to minister to residents of the growing Riverside neighborhood, the congregation met first in a vacant farmhouse on the site of the present-day church, then in a small two-room wooden church erected in 1893, and finally from 1914 in this ample Gothic Revival edifice (with prominent Craftsman influences), designed by Thomas King, an amateur architect and himself a member of the church. |
