Description
English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented. The opening of the railway exhibition "The train 1839-1939" in Amsterdam, on the occasion of the hundred years existence of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). The exhibition was held on the grounds of the former Paleis voor de Volksvlijt. SHOTS: - pan across the exhibition terrain; - opening speech by the mayor of Amsterdam, W. de Vlugt; - Royal Commissioner of Noord-Holland, A. baron Roëll and Minister of Water Management, J.W. Albarda with his wife, listening to the speech; - several other gentlemen among the crowd; - several shots of moving model trains on scale models with a.o. a working railway crossing and a lift bridge; - De Vlugt get on a large model steam train ("De Arend" (The Eagle)) goes around the exhibition buildings. It is a replica of the first train that drove between Amsterdam and Haarlem.

De opening van de Spoorwegtentoonstelling "De trein 1839-1939" te Amsterdam, tgv het honderdjarig bestaan van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen. De tentoonstelling werd gehouden op het terrein van het voormalige Paleis voor Volksvlijt. SHOTS: - pan over tentoonstellingsterrein; - openingstoespraak door de burgemeester van Amsterdam, W. de Vlugt; - Commissaris der Koningin van Noord-Holland, A. baron Roëll en minister van Waterstaat, J.W. Albarda met zijn vrouw, luisterend naar toespraak; - div. andere heren in publiek; - div. shots van rijdende modeltreintjes op maquettes met oa een werkende spoorwegovergang en een hefbrug; - De Vlugt gaat aan boord van een grote model-stoomtrein ("De Arend") die rond de tentoonstellingsgebouwen rijdt. Het is een replica van de eerste trein die tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem reed.
