Ordnance Survey Drawings: Dolgelley (OSD 303) |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
Object type | manuscript map | |||||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
English: Below the formal title of this drawing, at the bottom left margin, an annotation informs the reader that trigonometrically ascertained altitudes are written in red ink, while estimated altitudes are in black. These numerical annotations are combined with colour washes and pencil interlinings ('hachures') to indicate relief. Archaeological sites are named in gothic script and an area calculation table is given in black ink. A note signed by the draughtsman Robert Dawson thanks Reverend R Davies of Bangor for correcting Welsh placenames..
