DescriptionOriginal Buildings of Spring Grove Paper Mill, near Oughtibridge - geograph.org.uk - 719434.jpg |
English: Original Buildings of Spring Grove Paper Mill, near Oughtibridge These buildings were part of the original Spring Grove Paper Mills, situated on the A6102 near to Oughtibridge. More commonly known, to the locals, as Dixon's Paper Mills which most famously produced Dixcel Toilet Paper. It is said that you could tell what colour Toilet Paper was being produced by the colour of the River Don, which runs through the site ... but I'm sure this is just a rumour! Dixon's became British Tissues, then Jamont UK, and is now part of the Georgia Pacific group On 10.03.2009 I have been contacted by Ewan Brooke who confirms seeing the River Don coloured Pink, Green and Purple when he was a youngster in Oughtibridge ... so the rumour is true after all ... thanks Ewan. |
