English: Looking northwest at the southeast corner of the J. Edgar Hoover Building (the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation) at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue NW and 9th Street NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. This is a former main pedestrian entrance to the building, and is marked with the building's former administrative name and its address.

The office building, constructed in the Brutalist style, began construction in 1967 and was completed in 1975. J. Edgar Hoover died on May 2, 1972. On May 4, President Richard Nixon directed the General Services Administration to designate the structure as the J. Edgar Hoover F.B.I. Building. Nixon's order did not have the force of law, however. Congress then enacted legislation formally designating the building as the J. Edgar Hoover Building on October 14. President Nixon signed the legislation into law on October 21, 1972.

After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, all ground-floor entrances to the FBI building were closed. Pedestrian access to the building now occurs through specially constructed, highly secure holding areas in the parking garage. The pedestrian entrance is on the 9th Street NW side of the structure.
