Nederlands: Ten behoeve van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen worden door twee Nederlandse industrieën, Werkspoor te Utrecht en Heemaf in Hengelo, electrische locomotieven gebouwd. Shots van de bouw van een locomotief uit de 1200-serie en beelden van een officiële proefrit ermee in aaanwezigheid van de NS-directie.

Shots:

  • In een montagehal van Werkspoor staat het chassis van een locomotief in aanbouw; arbeiders werken aan de afbouw: de bestuurderscabines worden aangebracht; de spanten van de bovenbouw worden gelast; stalen beplating wordt aangebracht;
  • andere arbeiders werken aan de onderstellen: zware Heemaf-electromotoren worden neergetakeld in de wielstellen en gemonteerd;
  • een compleet voorgemonteerde electrische schakelkast wordt opgetakeld en in het inwendige van de locomotief neergelaten waarna monteurs draden en kabels aansluiten;
  • vooraanzicht van twee gereed zijnde locomotieven; schilders werken aan de cabine van één ervan;
  • een gereedgekomen, met bloemen versierde, nieuwe locomotief, nr. 1201, rijdt langzaam uit de montagehal naar buiten en doorbreekt een lint;
  • diverse shots van en vanuit de trein tijdens de proefrit: de met vlaggen versierde locomotief trekt met grote snelheid een stel rijtuigen over de rails; de machinist zit in de cabine; achter de ramen schieten rails, spoordijk en bovenleiding voorbij;
  • 01:29 ir. F.Q. den Hollander, president-directeur NS, gaat de locomotief binnen.
English: Two industrial companies from the Netherlands, Werkspoor in Utrecht and Heemaf in Hengelo, build electrical locomotives for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS, Dutch Railways). Shots of the construction of a 1200-class locomotive and the offical test drive in the presence of the NS managment.

Shots:

  • The chassis of a locomotive under construction in a Werkspoor assembly hall; workers work on the completion: the driver's cabins are fitted; the frames of the upper part are welded; steel sheets are attached;
  • other workers work on the undercarriages: heavy Heemaf electric motors are lowered into the undercarriage and assembled;
  • a completely pre-assembled electrical switch box is hoisted and lowered into the interior of the locomotive, after which workers connect wires and cables;
  • front view of two finished locomotives; painters work on the cabin of one of them;
  • a finished new locomotive, no. 1201, decorated with flowers, slowly drives out of the assembly hall through a ribbon;
  • several shots of and from the train during the test drive: the locomotive with carriages decorated with flags drives across the tracks at high speed; the engine driver is in the driver's cabin; behind the windows the tracks, railway embankment and catenary wire pass by;
  • 01:29 F.Q. den Hollander, chairman of the NS, enters the locomotive.
