Description
English: Owens Farm Natural Area - circa 1850 Corvallis Schoolhouse, is one of three historic buildings situated on the 131-plus acre farm. The schoolhouse was moved from its original location, to protect its archeological and historical status. It is not accessible to the public, but the exterior can be viewed from the gravel trail. The Owens Farm Natural Area is located in North Corvallis, off of Hwy 99W between the intersections of Elks Drive & Elliot Circle, in Benton County, Oregon. Greenbelt Land Trust acquired the property along with Good Samaritan Hospital and the City of Corvallis in 2002. The land was originally thought to be the home of the indigenous Kalapuya people, prior to white settlers moving to the area in the mid-1800's. The site is both ecologically and archeologically significant and valuable. To date, the natural area is only accessible by guided tours, during the restoration of both the land and buildings.
