English: Bust of the Greek orator Demosthenes. Marble, Roman artwork, inspired from a bronze statue by Polyeuctos (ca. 280 BC). Found in Italy. Français : Tête de Démosthène. Citation d’une statue en pied de Démosthène visible sur l’Agora d’Athènes réalisée vers 280 av. J.-C. par le bronzier athénien Polyeuctos. Cette statue en pied, aujourd’hui perdue, est connue par quelques copies, dont la réplique conservée au musée de Copenhage. Quelques éléments de ce portrait (la pointe du nez, le bout du menton ainsi qu'une partie de la calotte crânienne) ont été restaurés. |
