English: One of Seattle's original service providers when telephones were introduced to the city in 1883, Sunset Telephone-Telegraph Company was known as Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company from the 1910s through 1984, and grew to service many areas on the West coast. After the Bell System divestiture, the Pacific Bell Telephone Company, as it is known in 2018, still provides telephone service in California. This image shows a PT&T employee operating a truck-mounted auger, used to dig holes for utility poles. Embossed on recto: T. P. T. & T. Co., Office of Chief Engn.
