Description
English: This watermill is known as Moinho de Água de Paderne (Paderne watermill) or Azenha do Castelo de Paderne (Watermill of Paderne Castle). It is located on the River Quarteira just to the north of Paderne Castle near the village of Paderne, Algarve, Portugal. This watermill was built in unknown date, but it is known that a mill has stood here since the Arab period of occupation of the Algarve. In this image is of a sluice and water race at the head of the dam (Açude) and mill pond that collects the waters of the Quarteira River, that feds the water power for the mill.
