Summary edit

Description

Just returned from a short vacation at the lesser known hill station Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. Palampur is known for its tea gardens, which produce Kangra Tea. Tea was first planted here in 1849. Tea plantation was started in Palampur in 1854 by the Holta Tea Comapny. A thriving tea plantation industry survived in Palampur till a devastating earthquake in 1905 destroyed man and plantation and the British Planters all but abandoned the town and the estates. This flower was spotted at the house of my good friend Sanjeev Anand, who kindly let me use his lovely holiday home in the outskirts of Palampur. I think this image presents yesterday, today and the future very poignantly.
