Summary edit

Description

A floss silk tree, Ceiba spp. (Ceiba speciosa, Ceiba chodattii), known in Spanish as palo borracho ("drunken trunk"). The green bark shows that the trunk is capable of photosynthesis (independently from leaves). The whole tree is covered with small prickles.

I, Pablo D. Flores, took this picture myself in Rosario, Argentina, in September 2005 (near the end of winter).
