Ce panneau cellulaire (comme les trois autres) se trouve placé en incidence par la mise en embardée du vaisseau. Il faut voir ces mises en incidences non comme l'inclinaison de certaines parois des cellules qui forment le panneau par rapport à la vitesse amont mais comme l'inclinaison de l'axe des cellules par rapport à la vitesse amont... En effet, comme le flux d'air est complètement guidé par les parois de chaque cellule, l'inclinaison de l'axe des cellules suffit à produire la déflexion de l'air.
Les quatre panneaux cellulaires opèrent la déflexion vers le bas des flux d'air les traversant : ces quatre déflexions vers le bas produisent donc, par réaction, quatre forces de portance vers le haut, ce qui va relever l'arrière du vaisseau, donc corriger l'embardée .
