Río Paraná de las Palmas. Llamado así por las palmeras que abundaban en sus orillas. Fueron taladas y usadas para hacer postes. En su curso recibe un sunnúmero de descargas cloacales, desechos industriales y agrotóxicos. Sólo el gran caudal de agua y una "milagrosa" autodepuración evitan que se convierta en un río muerto y pestilente. Río abajo se encuentran las tomas que proveen de agua potable a las ciudades de Buenos Aires y La Plata y sus alrededores, donde vive un tercio de la población de Argentina. |
