Summary edit

Description

Cowden Ponds NT366673, Midlothian, Scotland. In this genus unlike most hoverflies the male's eyes do not meet. They do however appear to be more parallel on the frons than in the female. See www.flickr.com/photos/35142635@N05/5719268249/in/photostream

Unfortunately a better view is needed of the rear femur to discount P. frutetorum.
