Wikipedia: This image was selected as picture of the day (Image du jour) on the French Wikipedia for 2019-08-14 (14 août 2019}). It was captioned as follows: French: Image stéréoscopique de fleurs de passiflore bleue. |
Wikipedia: This image was selected as picture of the day on the English Wikipedia for 1 November 2021. It was captioned as follows: English: Stereoscopy is a technique for creating or enhancing the illusion of depth in an image by means of stereopsis for binocular vision. |
This file is a stereogram. Stereograms are stereoscopic images or animations which combine left and right frames showing slightly different visual angles to allow for 3D perception.
The stereogram uses the side-by-side cross-view method. The left frame shows the right eye's perspective, and the right frame the left eye's perspective. It might be possible to view this image without a viewing device by crossing your eyes to visually combine the frames. |

Technical Details / How to View this Stereo Image edit
EN: Stereo viewing recommendations edit
- The cross-eyed viewing method requires that the images for the left and the right eye are swapped (arrangement R-L) so that they will be correctly seen cross-eyed, the left eye viewing the image on the right and vice versa, the intended stereo image appearing in between.
- Cross-eyed viewing allows one to view stereo images with high resolution on large screens, thus displaying details in stereo that small-scale stereo images (typically from 50x50 to 80x80 millimetres each side) simply cannot reproduce.
Caveat: Coalescing the two images via cross-eyed stereo viewing into one requires a little practice; it helps if your viewing distance is approx. 150% of the total width of the stereo pair and your eyes are held exactly horizontally.
- Cross-eyed viewing allows one to view stereo images with high resolution on large screens, thus displaying details in stereo that small-scale stereo images (typically from 50x50 to 80x80 millimetres each side) simply cannot reproduce.
- Parallel viewing is the preferred arrangement for use with a stereoscopic viewer; please switch to the parallel version of this image. Depending on the capabilities of your stereoscopic viewer or of your display either the print size or the display size must be adapted to the requirements of the stereo viewer.
- Also refer to "Other versions" for both an image arranged for parallel viewing (arrangement L-R) and the initial non-stereo images.
