Summary edit

Description
English: Path under buttresses, Winchester Cathedral The oft-photographed path under the buttresses along the south face of the cathedral. The flying buttresses were added in 1909-12 as part of a restoration programme by Sir T.G. Jackson to stabilise the collapsing cathedral, which had been built on marshland using tree trunks for foundations. Jackson's stabilisation works famously also involved a diver installing concrete foundations under the south and east faces
