Taken in conjunction with this photo looking west.
Pedestrian island for transit loading on Pike Street just west of Fourth Avenue, Seattle, Washington, 1956. This is looking eastbound on Pike. There is a trolleybus between the pedestrian island and the curb; that would have loaded from the sidewalk, not the island, which served a different trolleybus, as can be seen at File:Seattle - Fourth & Pike, 1956 (53344527402).jpg. The Lundquist-Lilly store at right was in the Joshua Green Building, at the southwest corner of Fourth and Pike. That and the Liggett Building/Fourth and Pike Building seen at the southeast corner are both still extant 2023.
