No ano de 1607, no reinado de D. Filipe II, o pelourinho foi colocado na Praça à esquerda da entrada da Rua das Tendas (actual Rua Conselheiro Augusto de Castro) e retirado em Maio de 1855. Após algumas vicissitudes, foi colocado junto à Igreja de S. João Baptista, em 1982.
