Summary edit
DescriptionPergamon Panorama Draped seated female statue 8179.jpg |
English: Seated female draped statue. Pergamon probably altar terrace. 190-160 BC. In post-classical times this figure was deliberately smashed into many pieces which has made it difficult to reconstruct and interpret. The seated figure's turned body and head as well as the naked left breast suggest the woman is part of a group with an infant. This representation is suitable for a nymph or your mother deity that is nursing her son or the infant in her care. (AvP VII 50)
Note: the child to her side was found elsewhere, head and torso must come from the same figure. It probably was part of a group with the female statue in this group.
Deutsch: Sitzende weibliche Gewandstatue. Pergamon 190-160 v. Chr. Marmor.
