Das Bild zeigt die Fußgängerbrücke am Thälmannplatz (heutiger Riebeckplatz ) mit den als Benzolringe ausgebildeten Stützen, die die hier ansässige Chemieindustrie symbolisieren. Hoppe arbeitete auch als Bühnenbildner in der Stadt um 1970. "Während er sich ihr [Berlin, Anm. d. Authors] in früheren Arbeiten Zuwandte und vorwiegend die alten Stadtviertel gestaltete, wendet er sich bereits 1971 in der „ Hallenser Stadtlandschaft“ einem neuen architektonischen Ensembles zu. Gewaltig ansteigende Straßen scheinen sich fest mit der über sie hinwegführenden Brücke zu berühren. Peitschenlampen, Hochhäuser, Verkehrsschilder usw. prägen den Charakter dieser Stadt. Der Künstler erreicht auch in diesem Werk starke Bewegung, obwohl er hier einen an- deren, einen flächigen Farbauftrag gewählt hat.
