Summary edit

Description
English: Two hypotheses hold it was built along the lines of a royal residence in the Hellenistic Orient or that it was built as a theatrical backdrop to state funerals, what is the case is unclear. Another hypothesis, that it was an actual palace and not a mausoleum, has been proven wrong, if only because the 4 rooms cut into the rock are much too small for that purpose. In niches in the middle of the façade loculi for the dead have not been found, probably only memorial representations were displayed there.
