Description

This is one of my favorite spaces in the museum, or anywhere in New York City for that matter.

The left wall is part of the original building facade of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, since greatly expanded.

The frontmost sculpture is Andromeda and the Sea Monster, done by Pierre-Étienne Monnot in Rome, Italy, from c. 1699-1704, for the fifth Earl of Exeter and taken to Burghley House in Northamptonshire, England, where it was until 1958.

Seen at Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
