VIEW NORTH FROM THE TRESTLING, MOUNT PISGAH. nature in making the most ofher treasures of wood and rockand water in Glen Onoko. Itis a delightful place to look andlinger through a summer day,and visitors to Mauch Chunkoften spend the entire day inits cool recesses. Among other places of noteeasily accessible by rail fromMauch Chunk are the Nesque-honing Tunnel, above men-tioned, which is traversed bythe train from Mauch Chunk toTamaqua, and the Nesquehon-ing Bridge, which is on theroute to Tamenend and theCatawissa. This is an opentrestle bridge crossing the headwaters of the Little SchuylkillRiver, which here flows througha deep gorge in the mountains. The bridge is iioo feet long, and 168 feet above the stream. It is well worth seeing for itsown sake, and no pen can dojustice to the magnificent vistaof mountain peaks and minia-ture valleys which stretchesaway on either hand from itsdizzy summit. The Lehigh Mountains ai-e sorich in romantic scenery, thatmore places of interest have al-ready been opened to the travelerin this region than in any otherof equal extent in Pennsylvania, while much still remains to re-viard the explorer. MooresRavine, with its wealth ofbeauty, was all unknown to fameuntil the summer of 1872, whenan article in Lippincotts Mag-azine called attention to it, andit remained a tangled labyrinthofrock and brush until the follow-ing season. The grand sceneryof Upper Lehigh was a secretwith a chosen few until the sametime, and many nooks like StonyCreek, full of the most pictur-esque scenery, still await nameand mention in the mountainfastnesses. A short ride from Mauch Chunkup the winding valley of the Le-high brings the traveler to White TERRACE FALLS, GLEN ONOKO. 14 l^HE RAILROAD SCENERY OF PENNSYLVANIA.
