Description
English: Four figures and an airplane, possibly a Curtiss JN-4, 1918 ca. Transcription on reverse reads "I took this against the sun so it isn't much good." Photograph likely taken by Carroll H. Bunch. Clay County, Missouri born Bunch served in the 149th Aero Squadron during World War I. The Curtiss 'Jenny' was produced in numerous variations. The RFC in the UK used JN3s (transferred from the RNAS) and JN4As (50 bought from Curtiss). Both utilised the standard Curtiss engine. This machine on the ground has the wrong rudder shape and a non-standard engine, therefore the photograph was taken in the USA..
