Summary edit

Description
English: The sandstone features known as Plumpton Rocks in North Yorkshire have been admired by people wishing to capture their beauty since the 16th century - a map from 1587 shows the spot to be almost unchanged when compared to its current appearance. Today, it's mostly photographers like me and the chap depicted here who come to document its looks - but the rocks also appear in historical paintings by the likes of Thomas Girtin and J.M.W Turner.
