Head of the Killeries. and southward the Connemara \^j Mountains, with the noble islands of I I ^- Turk and Boffin—nearer objects seem almost beneath us; Achil was below,Clare Island stretched at our feet ; while our own cabin j^. looked like a speck upon the canvas, distinguished only byits spiral wreath of smoke from the hillocks that encircled it. There was anindescribable loneliness around that gave powerful effect to all we saw.
