- Donné par Prud'hon après la mort de Constance Mayer (26 mai 1821) à son élève Auguste-Joseph Carrier, peintre en miniature (1800-1875) ;
- sa vente, Paris, 9-10 mars 1846, n° 204, adjugé 191 F à Théophile Thoré (dit plus tard William Bürger, 1807-1869), mais en fait racheté par Carrier à qui le dessin appartient de nouveau en 1848 (exp.) et en 1860 (exp., Bürger et gravure par Flameng) ;
- [2°] vente Auguste-Joseph Carrier, Paris, 6-7 avril 1868, n° 143, adjugé 2000 fr. à Angélique-Louis-Charles Bellanger ;
