Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_64305_בית הקרן הקיימת 2.jpg Notes: המבנה בן שלוש הקומות הסמוך לצומת בית דגן שנבנה ב1922 שימש מפעל ערבי לייצור סיגריות ונמכר ליהושע שוגרמן. בעת מאורעות 1939-1936 השטח נקנה בידי חברת הימנותא בעזרת קרן הקיימת ונמסר לעיבוד לקיבוץ מעלה החמישה. הבית שימש כמשלט הquotהגנהquot גם עמדת מגן לדרך הביטחון וגם בסיס ממנו בוצעו פעולות תגמול נגד התחבורה הערבית. הערבים עשו מאמצים להחריבו מספר פעמים. ב-19 במארס 1948 מכונית תופת החריבה את הבניין. שתי מכוניות הגיעו למקום ג39יפ ומשאית עמוסה ב-500 קquotג של חומר נפץ. נשמע קול פיצוץ אדיר והבניין קרס.
