Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_71025_15.jpeg Notes: בית גִ39מָאל נמצא מדרום לבית שמש. ישנם בו שלושה מבנים מנזר לנשים כנסיית סטפנוס הקדוש ומנזר לגברים. פירוש השם בערבית quotבית היופיquot . נוף יפה נשקף מהמקום. לפי המסורת הנוצרית המקום נקרא בעבר כפר גמלא על שם רבן גמליאל הזקן שהיה נשיא הסנהדרין התנצר בחשאי ונקבר במקום. לפי המסורת היהודית הייתה בכפר אחוזתו של רבן גמליאל. מנזר הגברים - ממוקם ממול לכניסה. כנסיית סטפנוס הקדוש הוקמה ב1932 על שרידים ביזנטיים. שרידי הפסיפס מהאתר הכנסייה הועברו לקיר מחוץ לכנסיה. המבנה הראשי של מנזר הנשים. הוקם בשנת 1873.
