English: Pile of boulders. These boulders were located not far from the dry-stone wall that separates this area of rough moorland from the field behind.
Mist had filled the deep valley of the nearby Murroch Burn, and had even reached this relatively high ground. In the background of this photo, the slanted area of brightness in the mist is just part of one side of what was a complete fog-bow; compare: 491411. [About 45m SSW of the boulders (and not shown in this photo) was a distinctive grassy mound, very different in appearance from the surrounding moor, and with an irregular surface; I thought at first that it might be the grass-covered remains of a low cairn – compare https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1315163 – but the irregular surface turned out to overlie dark peaty soil rather than rocks.] |
