Description
English: Plaques on the sculpture "El abrazo" in Cartagena (Spain). They read:

This monument honors the Spanish Jews who had to leave, as well as those who stayed and suffered a true torment. We remember the fateful date of March 31, 1492 on which the Edict of Granada was published. The Fundación Hispanojudía and the Fundación José Sacal of Mexico donate this sculpture, called "El abrazo" by the Mexican sculptor José Sacal (ZL), to the city of Cartagena. This port was the last thing seen by those who left their homes and had to start other lives. They never forgot Sepharad. They maintained their language and customs from different corners of the earth for five centuries. From today this symbol will serve as a reunion between the Hispanic world and the Jewish culture.

Este monumento honra a los judíos españoles que tuvieron que partir, así como a los que se quedaron y sufrieron un verdadero tormento. Recordamos la fatídica fecha del 31 de marzo de 1492 en la que se publicó el Edicto de Granada. La Fundación Hispanojudía y la Fundación José Sacal de México donan esta escultura, denominada «El abrazo» del escultor mexicano José Sacal (ZL), a la ciudad de Cartagena. Este puerto fue lo último que vieron los que dejaron sus hogares y tuvieron que iniciar otras vidas. Nunca olvidaron Sefarad. Mantuvieron desde diferentes confines de la tierra durante cinco siglos, su lengua y costumbres. Desde hoy este símbolo servirá de reencuentro entre el mundo hispano y la cultura judía.
