Description
English: Table showing the planned scale of the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers as planned in 1977. Due to the end of the Cold War, the SLEP of USS Ranger (CV-61), USS America (CV-66) and USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) were cancelled. In the end, most carriers were retiered much earlier. Only USS Midway (CV-41), USS Coral Sea (CV-43), USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) served as long as envisaged or even longer.
