Description
English: Commemorative plaque, in memory of the Swiss Guards killed in 1792, given in 2005 by the Swiss president Samuel Schmid, stored at the Invalides, awaiting to be affixed at the Expiatory Chapel, to which it is destined (as the Swiss Guards are buried at the Expiatory Chapel, not at the Invalides).
Français : Plaque commémorative des Gardes suisses tués en 1792, offerte en 2005 par le président suisse Samuel Schmid, déposée à la crypte des Invalides, dans l'attente de sa pose à la Chapelle expiatoire à laquelle elle est destinée (car les Gardes suisses reposent à la Chapelle expiatoire, et non aux Invalides). Inscription : "INVICTIS PAX - PER VITAM FORTES, SUB INIQUA MORTE FIDELES / À la loyauté et au courage des Suisses / En l'honneur de tous ceux qui ont vaillamment combattu / et se sont sacrifiés pour rester fidèles à leur serment / lors des journées des 10 août, 2 et 3 septembre 1792 / Sont tombés en combattant avec vaillance et reposent en ce lieu: 20 officiers environ 700 soldats / Ont survécu grâce à l'habileté de leurs amis: 16 officiers environ 350 soldats / M. François Nordmann Ambassadeur de Suisse en France a dévoilé cette plaque commémorative apposée à l'initiative: / du comité 1792 de l'Institut de la Maison de Bourbon / Et grâce au soutien de: / Institutions: Ville de Lucerne (...)
