| Description |
English: Platform detail at Newent Station The station has been closed since 1959 and the platforms largely buried under brambles. Recently the site has been cleared in connection with the restoration of the Hereford - Gloucester canal which ran here before the railway was built on its course. This brick arch - visible in old pictures of the station and probably used for point rodding or similar - has been exposed to the light of day as a result. Note the badly rusted piece of broad gauge rail "reinforcing" the top of the arch. |
