| Description |
Found in herb layer beside Sea Buckthorn on sandy coastal site. Taken Fernie Ness, Longniddry, Scotland. One of the silver-spotted Platycheirus species (albimanus, discimanus, sticticus & ambiguus). Males of these species can be separated on details of the front femur and tibia, neither of which are visible in this shot unfortunately. 'Stubbs & Falk' states that sticticus has very small spots on the tergites with those on tergite 2 often absent. This individual does have very faint markings on tergite 2. |
