Description
  • Italiano: Wilhelm von Plüschow (1852-1930), "Pompei - Casa Vettii". (Ragazzo in abiti antico-romani a Pompei).
  • English: Wilhelm von Plüschow (1852-1930), "Pompeii - House of the Vettii" (youth in Ancient Roman disguise at Pompeii). Catalogue # 8861. This images clearly belongs to the same set used as illustration for A Pompeiian gentleman's home-life by E. Neville-Rolfe, published in the magazine "Schribner's" in march 1898. The model, Pasquale Casillo from Taormina, is set in the "Casa dei Vettii" in Pompei, which had just been unearthed and inaugurated. The model in this picture, Pasquale, also appears in several images by Wilhelm von Gloeden, whose images showing this same model on Pluschow's terrace must therefore be dating from the same period (1896/8).
Date 1896/1898.
