Plush-Crested Jay Ultraviolet Photo

Summary edit

Description
English: The plush-crested jay is an example of how birds can use their ultraviolet-sensitive vision to perceive colors that are not visible to humans. Feathers on the bird's belly appear yellow to human eyes, and they reflect ultraviolet light. The eye also appears yellow to us, but it absorbs ultraviolet light. Because of the difference in UV reflectance, birds would perceive the belly feathers and the eye as two different colors.
