Description

Memorial plaque commemorating Bucharest-based Romanian troops who fought Nazi German troops in August 24-August 27, 1944 (following the August 23 coup, which took Romania out of the WWII Axis camp); located in Băneasa, Bucharest, at the foot of a railway bridge. The caption reads:

The area alongside this railway line, from Chitila commune to the Bucharest-Chitila Highway, was the starting base of operations for the Romanian units who, between 24 and 27 August 1944, fought in the defense of Bucharest against Hitlerist troops who were operating from Băneasa commune and the Băneasa and Tunari woods

Glory be to the Romanian soldiers who fought for the motherland's freedom and independence
