| Description |
English: Pond Bay, River Ray 5. Looking north-east, this wide and shallow ditch going away from the camera is part of a medieval pond bay on the River Ray, which is marked as such on OS map, see 962463. The embankment or dam of the pond bay is in front of the solitary tree, with a gap to the right where the sluice gate may have been. The water from the pond bay when released would have flowed towards the camera and at some point gone into the River Ray which is off camera to the left, 962532.
In the far distance to the left of centre is Quainton Hill, to the right of centre is Grange Hill, on the north slope of which is the source of the River Ray, and to the right, the white sided building is Lee House, 408589. |
